Trish’s Tiny Tots March Newsletter

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold. When it is summer in the light and winter in the shade.”

– Charles Dickens

Welcome March! This month we have exciting projects planned for the special days March holds. With St. Patricks’ Day, the first day of Spring and Easter we are going to be busy bees exploring this exciting time of year!

This Month: During this month we will be talking about the story behind St. Patricks’ Day, the beauty of spring and finally the story behind Easter and how the Easter Bunny came into the picture J During art time we will be creating Clovers, Rainbows, Umbrellas, Bouquets of flowers, planting out garden starts, coloring Easter eggs and crafting bunny creations. We will continue the process of learning each individual letter per week as well as additional curriculum such as two letter sounds, and site words. We will learn the sounds of the letters, the sign and practice writing them. The children have gotten about half way through their ABC books, and are looking forward to showing off their finished products to their families! We will talk about shapes, colors and numbers and continue to review them for consistency. We will be learning about the months of the year, days of the week and the weather! Each week we will also talk about principles such as kindness, honesty, forgiveness and patience. I encourage you all to review the work the children take home. I would like them to share with you the topics they learn about, so as parents you can continue to review with them for consistency.

Don’t Forget About Your Family Pictures: I love for the children to be able to talk with the other children about their families. Family photos in the classrooms facilitate these conversations. I am working on a new special bulletin board or area to post pictures. I am asking you to send one or two family photos to be displayed in this area. The children really like it when grandparents and pets are included in the pictures too. Please help to complete our family photo area by providing pictures as soon as you can J

Special Events: Sunday, March 10th is daylight savings time.  Please be sure to spring ahead an hour before you go to sleep on Saturday! The following Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day.  We will be celebrating this day throughout the week prior to so the children can take their St. Patty’s Day items home to use at for each families’ unique traditions. For Easter we will be holding our annual Easter egg hunt on Good Friday (Friday the 29th) at approximately 9:15 A.M. Even if Friday is not your regular scheduled day, the children and parents are encouraged to join us.

CLOSURES: In honor of Easter we will be closed Monday, April 1st.

SIDE NOTE: I have begun a handmade candle making business to work on during the weekends and evenings. Please check out my website where you can view the primitive designs, see the list of scents available and even be able to purchase right online!  This started as a hobby for me, but it has become a therapeutic process that has led me to passionately create a very rewarding business.
