Trish’s Tiny Tots February

Love is in the air and we
are looking forward to learning different ways to show others love as we shuffle
into the month of February and celebrate Happy St. Valentine’s Day on Thursday,
February 14th. I hope each our Trish’s Tiny Tot families have an
opportunity in the midst of our hustle and bustle daily lives, to take a moment
to lend a hand, express a kind word or compliment, extend grateful
appreciation, thank those who deserve to hear it more, and most importantly
hold your loves ones tight and remind them how much you love and care for them.
This
Month: During
this month we will be talking about love in all its colors, appreciation and
acts of kindness. We will continue studying our five senses and spend time
discussing the many feelings and emotions we have. During art time we will be
creating Heart Mobiles, Cubbie Lovies, Love bugs, and Special Cards and gifts
for our families’. We will continue the
process of learning each individual letter per week as well as additional
curriculum such as two letter sounds, and site words. We will learn the sounds
of the letters, the sign and practice writing them. The children have gotten about
half way through their ABC books, and are looking forward to showing off their
finished products to their families! We will talk about shapes, colors and
numbers and continue to review them for consistency. We will be learning about
the months of the year, days of the week and the weather! Each week we will
also talk about principles such as kindness, honesty, forgiveness and patience.
I encourage you all to review the work the children take home. I would like
them to share with you the topics they learn about, so as parents you can
continue to review with them for consistency.
Don’t
Forget About Your Family Pictures: I love for
the children to be able to talk with the other children about their families.
Family photos in the classrooms facilitate these conversations. I am working on
a new special bulletin board or area to post pictures. I am asking you to send
one or two family photos to be displayed in this area. The children really like
it when grandparents and pets are included in the pictures too. Please help to
complete our family photo area by providing pictures as soon as you can J
Tax Statements: 2012 tax statements are
ready! Please see me for your family’s copy if you have not done so.
Special
Events: Thursday, February 14th we will be having
our annual Valentine’s Day party after naptime.
The children are encouraged to bring Valentines for their friends’ Cubbie
Lovie holders. They can, with your assistance, place their Valentines in their friends’
cubbie lovie’s when they first arrive and will have a chance to go through them
after naptime during our Love Day Festivities. It is best and less work if you
just leave the TO:’s blank and just assist your child with the FROM:’s. We have 9 total students. Also, although not
required it is appreciated if your family could donate a healthy snack for this
special day.
