Trish’s Tiny Tots October
Newsletter
“Hold on, man. We don't go
anywhere with "scary," "spooky," "haunted," or "forbidden"
in the title.” ~From Scooby-Doo
September has come and gone
already and our preschoolers are well on their way to a successful year! October is jam-packed with so many creative
explorations, crafts and events!!
This
Month: During this month we will be busy
creating Halloween art, as well as beginning our alphabet books. We will begin
studying our five senses and spend time discussing the many feelings and
emotions we have. We will learn about spiders in Science and find out about the
life of Johnny Appleseed. We will continue the process of
learning each individual letter per week as well as additional curriculum such
as two letter sounds, and site words. We will learn the sounds of the letters,
the sign and practice writing them. We will talk about shapes, colors and
numbers and continue to review them for consistency. We will be learning about
the months of the year, days of the week and the weather! Each week will also
talk about principles such as kindness, honesty, forgiveness and patience. I
encourage you all to review the work the children take home. I would like them
to share with you the topics they learn about, so as parents you can continue
to review with them for consistency.
Don’t Forget About Your Family
Pictures:
I love for the children to be able to talk with the other
children about their families. Family photos in the classrooms facilitate these
conversations. I am working on a new special bulletin board or area to post
pictures. I am asking you to send one or two family photos to be displayed in
this area. The children really like it when grandparents and pets are included
in the pictures too. Please help to complete our family photo area by providing
pictures as soon as you can J
Upcoming Events: Mark your calendars!
October 15th – October 19th (Monday – Friday) we will be
having PJ week! Your child is invited to wear PJ’s this week, bring a favorite
stuffed animal, blanket and book. We
will be doing a lot of story time reading throughout this week! Our 2nd
Annual Harvest Party is scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st during
the day! We will be having a small classroom party with spooky-silly treats
during lunch, pumpkin decorating and a special snack time event with kettle
corn and a movie. We will wrap up the end of the day with games and songs. Parents are encouraged to join us when they
are available any time throughout the day. Your children are encouraged to wear
costumes on this day with a comfy set of clothing under. Sometime during the
month of October we will be planning a field trip to the pumpkin patch. This date is TBD.
